FLRA Office of General Counsel Announces Results of TSA Runoff Election

Employees of the Transportation Security Administration have voted on the question of union representation, in a nationwide runoff election conducted by the Federal Labor Relations Authority (FLRA). Because the first election, which was completed on April 20, 2011, resulted in none of the choices receiving a majority of the votes cast, a runoff election was held between the two choices receiving the highest votes -- the American Federation of Government Employees, AFL-CIO, and the National Treasury Employees Union.

Since May 23, 2011, Transportation Security Officers (TSOs) at airports throughout the country have been voting by telephone and internet. The results of the runoff election released today by the FLRA show 8,903 votes for the American Federation of Government Employees, AFL-CIO, and 8,447 votes for the National Treasury Employees Union.  The FLRA's full announcement can be found here.
