FSIP INVITES CUSTOMERS TO ROUNDTABLE DISCUSSION IN SAN FRANCISCO

The Federal Service Impasses Panel (the Panel) will hold a roundtable discussion in San Francisco on June 9 with Federal agency management and union leaders representing federal employees. Participants will have a chance to meet the Panel Members and suggest ways to improve and strengthen the quality of Panel services.

Panel Chair Betty Bolden said that she and Panel Members Gilbert Carrillo, Bonnie Castrey, Stanley Fisher, Dolly Gee, Edward Hartfield, and Mary Jacksteit will meet face-to-face with their customers. "We are dedicated to providing high quality service to agency and union representatives in the Federal service," said Chair Bolden. "Hearing from our customers firsthand is the best way to ensure that we continue to effectively meet their changing needs, particularly in today's age of government-wide reorganization."

The Federal Service Impasses Panel, a component within the Federal Labor Relations Authority, is the last step in Federal sector collective bargaining -- the substitute for the strike and lockout in the private sector. The Panel is charged with resolving impasses between Federal agencies and unions representing Federal employees arising from negotiations over conditions of employment under the Federal Service Labor-Management Relations Statute and the Federal Employees Flexible and Compressed Work Schedules Act.

The roundtable discussion with Chair Bolden, other Panel members, and staff will take place on Monday, June 9, 1997, at 10:00 a.m. in the Department of Labor General Purpose Conference Room, Room 1010, 71 Stevenson Street, San Francisco, California. Any questions about the meeting should be directed to Ms. Angelique Tatum (202) 482-6670.
